About me
Hi there, here is a personal note about me. My name is Gabor and I am the inventor of RedBeanPHP. I have studied Cognitive Psychology but due to twisted dynamics of fate and economy I now work as a software developer. Software development has always been one of my passions, I started writing sofware when I was 8. I never thought about studying computer science because I hated math and I was more curious about the human mind in general. However it turned out economy needed developers more than cognitive research so I got a job as a PHP developer. Nowadays I work for a company that promotes sustainability. Being part of their development team I help clients implement software solutions to improve their business processes in a sustainable way. Most of the time these are web applications rather than sites.
When I am not coding I like to read books (Bill Bryson is one of my favourite authors) or watch movies. My favourite food is Mexican Burritos (and all the other tex-mex dishes) with red beans. That's why I named this ORM library RedBeanPHP, because I just love kidney beans and there is no way I can figure out a meaningful name for something as abstract as this library.
Some other facts about me: I like cigarillos and single malt whisky. I love to listen to jazz, smooth jazz and ... metal. I know it's an odd combination but whatever. I am a bit nostalgic, I still own a lot of old computers from the eighties like an ORIC, Commodore and some MSX flavours. I like to read about old programming languages like Cobol and Flowmatic because I see the value of history. I like esoteric programming languages because they form a source of inspiration and they help one to keep an open mind. My favourite movie is 'As good as it gets'. My favourite artist is John Watts (Fischer-Z). I always have a painting of Edward Hopper in my room.
